It's still fully functional and is actually a nice, thick material so we have one that spills often and it doesn't go through to table. We use washable markers and I spray with Thieves or Oxy before we wash. It washes clean and we begin again. Everyone can tell their spot on the table by their art. If we baby sit the other kids love it too. It gives them an incentive to try something they may not normally eat like broccoli if they'll get the markers after eating to color a little bit. The true test? If we host our family or friends for a gathering adults are just as enchanted by the idea of sitting there doodling and coloring on the table. I took photo's of some spill area's because we're at the stage we're getting ready to wash again.
