He eventually outgrew them as his teeth came in stronger and we had to replace them with another style. I would recommend when for when they are just getting in their first teeth and such it works great for a good long while. You will know when they get too old for these because their mouth muscles will twist the soft piece and break the seal causing leaks. But that isn't anything bad with this cup, its just something that will happen as the kids get older. These were great to use, traveled well fitting in most cupholders, though the arms sometimes get in the way.
