Review: Coffee grinder - I Ordered DeLonghi coffee grinder on 17 September 2024 and I had just got it today and looking forward to making the best coffee with it but when I set it all up like the instructions said I then plugged it in and turned it on and a few seconds later it went bang and blow all my electric off now it not turn on are work now I would like to return it and get it replaced it is the first DeLonghi I have bought and it gone wrong I would give it 5 stars if it not go bang
Review: It certainly looks the part.... - This is a great looking grinder which seems to be of very solid construction which grinds the beans to the consistency I require (fine). I use this in conjunction with the Dedica coffee maker and the biggest benefit is the ability to insert the coffee maker handle directly into the grinding machine and then grind directly into the handle. It does this with surprisingly little mess so long as you don't try to overfill it. It's fast and reasonably quiet. My main concern with the machine is how unclear the instructions are. I still can't work out how to change the amount of coffee it grinds (for preparation directly into the handle) - I did it at the start and now its OK but I can't work out how to change it. The instructions are terrible (mainly pictures) and the words don't seem to fit the pictures. It tells you some of the controls don't work in this mode and you can only grind in positions 1 and 6 (but doesn't really explain why). It also says you can grind for 2 cups by pressing the 'go' button twice but this doesn't seem too successful. But this machine does look beautiful on the counter when placed next to the coffee machine. It has a nice display (which really, is next to useless) and the stainless steel finish is remarkably easy to clean which is also a huge bonus. I know the looks shouldn't matter but it is a bonus when the thing has to sit on the counter 24/7.

**Q: My bean hopper keeps loosen when i grind.  then i have to hold the hopper down to grind again.  does anyone else have this problem?**
A: After you have seated the bean hopper on the machine, give the hopper a clockwise twist and you should feel and hear it snap into place.  That will hold the hopper in place when you grind your beans.  An extra hint--Don't remove the hopper with coffee beans in it or you'll be sweeping up the little critters from your countertop and floor.

**Q: Is the grind storage container glass or plastic?**
A: This is a big problem that would have been easily solved by the manufacturer by using anti-static plastic.  My solution: after grinding, I stir the grounds through the top hole in the receiving container with a metal tablespoon.  This dissipates the static charge and prevents the grounds from repelling one another other and flying everywhere.  The cap can then be removed and the grounds poured from the plastic cup as one chooses.

**Q: Is this actually 18" tall as listed in the description?**
A: Fully assembled it is 15 inches tall

**Q: How i know the perfect grinder setting for de longui ec680 espresso machine? i like strong coffe flavor. thanks.**
A: Technically, you adjust by what grind achieves the desired brew time. I believe DeLonghi uses pressurized porta filter, which are more forgiving, but may work differently. A 25-35 seconds extraction time is typical for a non-pressurized machine - I don’t know how that one works. I’d start at finest grind and taste. If good, leave it. If it’s choking the machine, i.e., full shot is not coming out in your normal brew time, then make grind more coarse.

For my prosumer, non-pressurized machine the finest setting was still too coarse. I can only use it for drip/Chemex now.

### ⭐ Disappointing- Doesn’t last long

I had this coffee grinder only 2 years and don’t use it that much, one day it just stopped working. It is very difficult to get a repair, the delonghi service never replied and you can’t phone. I took it locally and have been told the machine is seized up. I am really not impressed with the durability or lack of service. In my view, an expensive appliance like this should last longer. The machine did grind the coffee well. Getting beans out for cleaning is messy as, inevitably they fall out everywhere.
