The substance is a fine white powder that was all over everything, in every fiber of the carpet as well. I live in Cali so hights temp weve gotten was 118°** A: Long term storage upper limit for warranty purposes is 120 degrees. Higher temperatures accelerate wear on the rubber seals which means you'll probably lose pressure prematurely and need to get it repaired more often but UL does test extinguishers to make sure they don't leak or explode during storage up to 175 degrees. **Q: Is it a good one for kitchen** A: This extinguisher will NOT put out a fire in your waste paper basket, cabinets, walls, etc. I would never have one in my kitchen.
