From Children's Laureate Lauren Child. Now if you were going to fall into a book, a book of fairy tales would probably not be your first choice. Because in every story there is always a wicked this, an evil that or a hungry somebody. It could only happen to Herb, child star of that thrilling tale , Beware of the Storybook Wolves. Equally loved by children young and old, this brilliantly original picture book is perfect for sharing together. From the creator of the award-winning, bestselling Charlie and Lola series. Open it if you dare! 'A thrilling story to scare your socks off.' The Bookseller 'Wonderfully imaginative... Absorbing and with fantastical, zany pictures.' The Observer 'Very, very funny and definitely not to be missed!' Books for Keeps Review: Absolutely love this book - so very cleverly thought through - Absolutely love this book - so very cleverly thought through! Something for both children and adults to enjoy in here - we bought it after reading it at our niece's house and have since bought it twice as a gift. Always a sign you think a lot of a book! As a parent I always had a soft spot for Charlie and Lola so maybe that's why I appreciate the way this story is told! The premise of the way you treat your books having an impact if you happen to fall inside it, and meeting all those characters we all know so well - it's excellent. Good illustrations and imaginative use of text as well. If you enjoy this, you'd also enjoy 'Beware of the Storybook Wolves' as it's about the same character. This book made us try more of her work and we've enjoyed it all! Don't start this if you're looking for a really short bedtime story before Eastenders starts though, it needs a little more time than rattling through The Gruffalo :) Review: A super book - Children LOVE this book, from infants through to middle juniors. They love the illustrations, and the way that the text is presented in spirals or unusual ways to illustrate what the words are actually saying. They love the fact that Herb can cut a hole through the palace floor to escape from the queen into another room. They love the stroppy Goldilocks, and the other fairy tale charaters who flit in and out of the story. ## Features - New Store Stock ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | 38,658 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) 219 in Children's Books on Halloween 629 in Fairy Tales, Folk Tales & Myths for Children (Books) 2,160 in Humour for Children | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 204 Reviews | ## Images ![Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Book? - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91QStTxQ27L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Language, Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely love this book - so very cleverly thought through *by M***S on 5 May 2017* Absolutely love this book - so very cleverly thought through! I shall definately be buying the other book in this series - second hand again as they are great value for money!!! --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/53866109-whos-afraid-of-the-big-bad-book](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/53866109-whos-afraid-of-the-big-bad-book) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
