It would work wherever you place it. It slides under the mattress. **Q: Does this work with an adjustable frame bed?** A: It works great with my adjustable bed. I have a California King Bed. I bought a second one for the other side of the bed, because I like to switch sides. Only thing bad I can say, but it's minor thing, the bag that comes with it snaps on. I have one snap that will come undone. I just have to be careful not to put anything a little heavy in the bag. **Q: Is the strap necessary? Im a widowed seniour with nobody to help secure the strap?** A: Not at all. We have a queen bed and we did not need to use strap. This bed assist is amazing very sturdy.
