You can choose the way you want it deployed, with the extra tall arm, with out it, or in which section you want the height-arm to be added.- It hold's up fairly heavy microphones (Rode NT1A + it's shock mount + pop-filter). Although, I probably wouldn't try using it for something like the Electrovoice RE20.- Super easy to swing the mic in and out of positions when you're ready to record and when you're done recording.Cons:- Although the build quality is really great for the arm itself, it isn't the same for the cable cover below.I had the tabs on mine breakoff while trying to install the arm.
