Review: Best investment ever! - The DJI Action 4 has exceeded every expectation I originally had when purchasing an action camera. After extensive use, especially during my motorbike rides, I can confidently say that this is one of the best technology investments I have made in a very long time. The overall performance, recording quality, durability, reliability, and ease of use make this camera an exceptional product for both casual users and enthusiasts who want professional looking footage without unnecessary complications. One of the most impressive aspects of the DJI Action 4 is the recording capability and video performance. The camera delivers outstanding clarity, vibrant colour accuracy, remarkable image stabilisation, and incredibly smooth footage across multiple frame rate configurations. The ability to record in various FPS settings provides tremendous versatility depending on the type of footage being captured. Whether recording standard cinematic clips, ultra smooth high frame rate riding footage, or slow motion sequences, the camera performs consistently well in every situation. The visual quality remains sharp and detailed even during fast paced riding conditions and changing lighting environments. The stabilisation technology is genuinely outstanding and makes a significant difference during motorbike use. Road vibrations, wind resistance, sudden movements, and uneven terrain are handled exceptionally well, resulting in footage that appears refined and professional rather than shaky or distorted. This alone elevates the entire riding experience because it allows me to focus on enjoying the journey instead of constantly worrying about camera movement or recording quality. Another feature that immediately stood out to me is the magnetic mounting system. The convenience of being able to quickly attach and detach the camera is incredibly practical, especially for motorbike riders. The magnetic connection feels secure, reliable, and intelligently engineered. Clipping the camera onto my setup takes only seconds, which is extremely useful when preparing for rides or adjusting recording angles. It removes unnecessary inconvenience and makes the entire experience feel modern and highly efficient. The build quality of the DJI Action 4 is equally impressive. The camera feels premium, durable, and extremely well manufactured. It performs excellently in various weather conditions and gives confidence that it can withstand regular outdoor use without concern. Battery performance has also been highly dependable throughout extended riding sessions, allowing me to record consistently without constantly monitoring power levels. Originally, I was considering purchasing a significantly cheaper action camera at approximately one hundred pounds. However, after using the DJI Action 4, I now fully understand how spending slightly more money can produce an enormous difference in overall quality, performance, reliability, and user experience. The improvement is immediately noticeable from the moment the device is used. The interface feels refined, the recording quality is superior, and the entire product demonstrates a much higher level of engineering and technological sophistication. Another reason I chose the DJI Action 4 was because I already own a DJI drone and have always been extremely satisfied with the brand. DJI has consistently demonstrated exceptional product quality, innovation, and reliability, so purchasing another device within the same ecosystem felt like the correct decision. That decision has proven absolutely worthwhile because the Action 4 maintains the same high standards I have come to expect from DJI products. I genuinely do not regret purchasing this camera in any way. In fact, it has become something I use every single time I take my motorbike out. It has integrated naturally into my riding routine because of how convenient, reliable, and enjoyable it is to use. The footage quality combined with the effortless mounting system makes it an ideal companion for riding enthusiasts. I would absolutely recommend the DJI Action 4 to anyone considering an action camera, especially for personal use. Many people immediately assume they need the newest DJI Action 5 or future models, but realistically, the Action 4 already delivers nearly everything most users could possibly require. While the newer models may offer slightly higher resolution or incremental upgrades, the Action 4 remains exceptionally powerful and capable. For everyday riders, travellers, content creators, and casual users, it performs brilliantly and offers outstanding value for money. Overall, the DJI Action 4 is an exceptional camera that combines premium recording quality, outstanding stabilisation, durable construction, practical usability, and remarkable convenience into one highly refined product. It is reliable, enjoyable to use, and unquestionably worth the investment. I would highly recommend it without hesitation. Below I have attached some images of the product and a picture taken by the camera of my pet cat.
Review: Pocket Rocket - I bought this over a year ago at just a noggin over £300. It's currently on offer for just over half that, which is an absolute steal. I use it mostly as a B-cam for my YouTube vids, which are mostly tool reviews and car mechanics. The Action4 is the camera which will boldy go where my main camera fears to tread. I can stick it up inside wheel arches or down in engine bays, without worrying about it getting a knock or getting splashed with oils, fuels, etc. I also mount it on an overhead rostrum in my shed for filming a bird's eye view of "stuff" [tools etc] on my workbench, while I dismantle them or modify them. For this its compact size is the stand out feature, as it doesn't get in the way. The footage it produces is great. A lot of the time I shoot in 2,7K resolution—a resolution which not a lot of other cameras offer, but which gives you a bit of headroom and cropping space if you're outputting your final footage at 1080P—but it will happily shoot at 4K without overheating [something its sibling the Osmo Pocket 3 wasn't so good at!]. I found the footage decent enough though a bit too "digital" for my liking. So I usually shoot in D-log with sharpness turned down and slightly under-exposed, as Ifind the default settings a bit too bright and sharp [like I say, a bit too digital looking]. Luckily the Action4 offers just enough config options to allow me to tweak the footage in this way and then adjust in post. Battery life is also good. Although I usually shoot with a powerbank attached, which the camera is quite happy to do. There are also other features such as timelapse, hyperlapse and slow motion, which are equally customiseable with regard to framerates / intervals /duration / etc. One slight disappointment here; shooting timelapse, slowmo etc. the camera doesn't do D-log and shoots with default colour, so I always have to tweak that footage more in post to match the D-log I've shot at normal speed. My only other criticism would be that I'd prefer it to have a shorter minimum focussing distance. It seems to be somewhere about the 20 - 30cm mark, which is probably fine for the more common types of action cam shooting. But, with my use case, I'm often using it in quite cramped spaces and, on occasion, I've found that my footage was slightly out of focus because I couldn't get far enough away from my subject. And, being a fixed focus lens, there's no way to tell what will or won't be in focus until you review the footage afterwards. All in all though I'm delighted with this camera. Even at the price I paid for it. At the price it's currently available for, it's a no brainer.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is it made?**
A: Made in China

**Q: How large are the files and what encoding settings (kbps) are available? How much larger are the files vs a gopro? Especially with 4k @ 60 fps?**
A: I have tested the Osmo Action 4 against the Hero 11. Unfortunately the Hero 11 is much more limited in frame rates and resolutions. There is no 60fps nor 30fps. You can get 50fps or 25fps. At 50fps 4k 16:9 (closest to your question), a 1min 11 second video on the Hero 11 is 0.99GB @119087kbps. The Osmo Action 4 is 597MB @63022kbps. The bitrate seems to be variable on both.

You can't change the bit rate manually but obviously you can via the different frame rate and resolution combinations. At 25fps the Hero 11 is 766MB @107111 kbps versus 383MB @53426 kbps.

Whilst the bitrate is double on the Hero 11 the frame rates are significantly more limited. There are more framerate options on the Osmo and they are consistent across resolutions and aspect ratios so its easier to switch.

I hope this helps!

**Q: Don't laugh because I'm a fool, but is this the latest most up to date model please?**
A: Yes it's the latest model and I recommend it. Fantastic camera love it.

**Q: Battery life at 4k 60fps? With good airflow (eg cycling)**
A: This depends on a bunch of things including resolution, frame rate, screen brightness, whether you have the front screen on, having stabilisation on etc. I havent tested the full battery to empty at 4k 60fps but you won't get an hour. I would guess about half that

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best camera I've owned
*by W***B on 6 January 2026*

Love this camera. Having used a cheaper alternative before spending a bit more and getting this, can say it's definitely worth paying the extra pennies. Fantastic quality video and audio. The image stabilisation is spot on, I was blown away by the quality. Multiple capture modes, good selection of recording quality options. Good audio, clear and full sounding but also reduces wind noise. The mounting options are well thought out and the mount docking with the case is really sturdy as it uses a mechanical clip alongside a strong magnet. I use this for downhill mountain biking, and find it a good camera for that. Not too large and heavy, which is nice as I helmet mount it. It's casing looks and feels robust. So should survive a few knocks. There is a sacrificial lens cover as well. My only real gripe is the fact you cannot use this without first connecting to the DJI app. As in, it gets locked out eventually without first syncing it with the app you've downloaded onto a phone. Google play don't allow the app on the Playstore due to security concerns, but it is available on Apple devices. I used an old IPhone for this as a workaround and the camera has worked perfectly since. All in all, I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone. But if you have an Android phone you may struggle a bit. I'd still give this 5* despite that.
