### ⭐⭐

Does not work with single combined keyboard+mouse device.

*by Z***C on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2018*

Video selection worked. Input did not work at all for me. In all fairness, I have a strange configuration -- a single-device keyboard+mouse that appears on the USB connector as a hub with local keyboard and mouse and another hub attached, with remote keboard and mouse attached to the second hub. Most PCs don't balk at having keyboard+mouse downstream of a hub but (too) many KVMs seem to..This KVM switch did not work at all with my input device. I could see video from the machines and switch between them using the switches on the front, but if my keyboard+mouse was plugged into this KVM switch, nothing would show up -- the switch would not acknowledge the hotkey for switching and no keyboard activity nor mouse movement showed up on the PCs. Tried all three USB sockets on the KVM -- keyboard, mouse, peripheral. Unplug the keyboard+mouse device from the KVM and plug it straight into one of the PCs and it worked fine -- did not matter which port I used on the PC, but no port on this KVM would see it. Since I don't have any useful way to put separate keyboard and mouse where I need this, if that is its need, it would be useless to me. I have seen too many USB input switches or input converters that had that need -- exactly simple keyboard must go here; exactly simple mouse must go here; plug them in the other way around or use complex input device that could be both and nothing works. The front panel makes it look like there should be two LEDs per switch -- one showing a PC is connected (and powered) and the other showing which PC is selected. Mine looks like it only has one LED per switch in the 'connected' row, that serves only as an indicator of which PC is active. Seems like maybe they recycled the chassis design from another model that had better indicators without even changing the panel markings (there does not seem to be anything in the space that should have the 'active' LEDs, so I don't think it is a malfunction). The documentation is better than some, but still not great. Once you figure out the page order (it was printed on plain paper, 4 up UL UR LL LR, and then folded, rather than looking like a professional printing job or even simple cut sheets with staples) at least it's understandable, though only a few (quarter) pages -- mostly setup and some basic troubleshooting. I think the documentation correlates with my observation that there is only one LED in each switch to indicate which channel is active.

Easy, simple to use device. Well built

*by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2018*

Simple, straightforward device that works very well. I have a semi-complicated system. 1 PC, 1 Mac, 1 mouse, 1 keyboard, 1 VGA monitor, 1 HDMI monitor. I'm using this particular unit just to switch the HDMI display & a USB peripheral. Most KVM get their power through the keyboard/mouse ports. This is a powered units, so I do not have to plug my keyboard & mouse into it. I have another Sea Wit unit that switches the keyboard, mouse & VGA monitors. For me, this is the simplest way to switch everything with minimal hassle. 2 buttons and I'm done. Maybe someday, a manufacturer will develop a single KVM with a USB switch and dual monitor support for multiple formats. Until then, I'll do it this way.I did not use the software that came with the unit. No need. it works fine as a hardware device. These are quite nicely built & a feel like quality items in your hand. I have 2 of them stacked. The cables are quite heavy, which tends to make them do a bit of a wheelie when sitting on my desk. I strapped them together & tied them down to prevent this from happening.

    Cables too short

*by R***T on Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2018*

The device seems solidly built, but the cables supplied are much too short (4 feet). If you've ever routed cables for an office, you lose a lot of length if you want them all neatly out of the way. Systems that seem to be 3 feet apart turn out to take 6 feet of cable if you don't want them hanging out in the air. Unless your machines are essentially rack-mounted and right next to each other, this unit requires you to buy a bunch of extension cables, increasing the price (and nuisance factor) substantially.I only have 3 machines. Previously, I was using two daisy-chained 2-port IOgear switches that had a pair of 6-foot cables each. It was a minor pain having to double-double click to get the one I wanted, so I decided to get a 4-port switch. As currently supplied, the Sea Wit switch is not an improvement.
