This taste just like chicken wow the texture is spot on I neverrrrr write reviews!!! I went plantbased and this is my vegan chickn alfredo with cheese garlic bread !!! When I tell you this taste like real chicken in the alfredo!!!! Please don't ever go out of stock !!! I will be ordering for a long time! I can't believe they started off as hard as croutons I boiled them on low for about 30-40 mins in vegetable stock then let them cool off and in a strainer ringed out the "chicken" because it's like a sponge at first then put them in a bowl season them and fry them or sauté them like I did this would go amazing in soups, alfredos, popcorn chicken, I want to make tacos next!!! Got it on a whim as I have regular texture issues with meat. TMI** - When I hit a bit of gristle or tendon, my brain freaks out and I literally can't eat anymore of whatever the meal is, even if it happens on the first bite. Ugh. So I've been trying to find ways around this, and while I'm not strictly vegan or vegetarian, this makes a wonderful protein addition to my meal rotations. Plus, the kids don't really notice that it's not quite meat (the magic of sauces!). I did a 1:1 hydration with various spice combos - but the down and dirty way is to use extra packets of ramen noodle seasoning (chicken or oriental seem to work best), add your boiling water, and let it sit for an hour. Then you can squeeze it, and just fry that stuff up in a hot pan with some oil - and BAM - you've got a passable meat analog, perfect for stir frys, etc. Yes, it's weird, because it's made of defatted soy flour. But if you're cheap and clever (and I am), what you have here is a blank slate to stay on budget, get creative (this stuff is used a lot in south Asian cuisine, it's worth a Google for "soya chunks") and expand your repertoire. Try at least one bag. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Lone Pescetarian *by T***D on January 14, 2018* Delivered fast, came exactly as expected. I am the only vegetarian/pescatarian in the house - (1 husband, 2 sons - 18 and 15). So that's to say that aside from the seafood, my husband in particular has been pretty harsh about my meat substitutes. (Even jokingly shaking my veggie sausage at me at telling me it didn't belong in his fridge.) While he has come to appreciate Nutritional Yeast Flakes on his popcorn, he's still pretty dubious of actual meat substitution items. Tofu has officially overstayed it's welcome on my husband's plate. After sneakily subbing his chorizo and eggs for soyrizo without complaint, I decided to bring a little TVP chunk action to the table this weekend. I've gotta tell you. Total success all around. Teenagers, husband - all were pleased and satisfied. So much so, I'm already ordering a second bag since the first will be gone in nothing flat.To reconstitute, I actually just warmed up some broth to just under a boil and then just soaked the TVP for as long as they would absorb (about 10 minutes) before throwing in a wok with sesame oil and sauce.
