This is one area I have had an interest in but never really understood how the derivations were done. In the first two chapters a projective technique to show rationality of points on a circle also project to rational points on a line was important to my understanding. I had not understood how this was mechanized, in the past. This text laid it out in complete detail and helped me understand a standard advanced math technique to connect number theory to projective geometry and back to number theory. This is an important technique and now I understand it.One minor critique is they include some code that has a subroutine, called squarefree_part(area). I am currently programming in Python, so there is a fair amount of overlap in the code, but I was unable to find the listing for this function. It took me a while, but I was able to create my own working function. It works and my outputs were duplicates of theirs. Personally, IMHO, this is more a programming problem rather than a mathematics, not that there wasn't some mathematics. But I got it working, but it took me a while. However, I am glad they wrote this book.If the rest of the book is of this quality, it is well worth the read and will provide understanding, at a fundamental level with Elliptic Curves and Cryptography. I am looking forward to finishing this book and will update when done. So far I am very happy with this book. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough. Good foundation. *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2021* The book ties together some obscure corners in mathematics very nicely, in depth, but still it is helpful to study these tangential topics separately. At times the author leaps to arcane notation without explanation but those cases can be resolved by working through some examples. The book leaves the reader with a solid foundation for implementing the subject cryptographic algorithms. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2018* This is an excellent book on elliptic curve cryptography. It requires only moderate mathematical knowledge to follow. There are only a handful of books specifically on this topic.
