When I was in kindergarten, my father worked for a major national catalog/retail chain in their hardware department selling their legendary lifetime warranty tools. He equipped every outdoor faucet, hose, sprinkler nozzle (and even the little fire hydrant for a toy fire truck that I had) with bronze quick-disconnect fittings from that hardware brand. They lasted for decades and worked great. Years later my wife and I have gone through numerous hose disconnects from home improvement stores. While the experience starts out great they end up with problems because of the metals used - even with plating. They corrode and fuse together, bind up with salt deposits if used to fill the pool, fuse to the vacuum breaker valve on the hose bib after binding up, and have to be removed with a cutting disk on a dremel. Fed up, we turned to desertcart, and found a number of plastic options that won’t suffer corrosion and fusing. Unfortunately a lot of them came in kits with flipped genders so half the fittings wouldn’t be used. Then we found this set male/female pairs in a set of 8, at such an affordable price that even if they only last 3 years like the metal ones have, they’ll be an easy and inexpensive replacement without needing to grind anything off. They fit and work great, sealing well. The female QD ends of the fittings (which screw over a male threaded connection like a hose bib) have a built in check valve, so water won’t flow unless a male fitting is plugged into them. This physically interfered with putting them on the vacuum breaker valves on our hose bibs. If you have this problem, or just want your hose to be open ended to let the water flow with nothing plugged in, just remove the o-ring from the white plastic valve core and the let the core drop out the other side. It’s just as easy to reinstall if you want to put it back in. Review: Excellent value. Appear nearly identical to Melnor. - These work really well. I have a Melnor connector that came with a sprinkler and I really liked it, but they are far more expensive. These are completely compatible with the Melnor coupler and appear almost identical. No leaks from one hose where I installed them on both ends of the hose and only the smallest drip on the end of another hose which turned out to be a defective end coupler. There is a small white plastic cross that is inside the coupler but was missing in this one, but it still worked albeit with a small leak (3 drips/minute) but even with that one defective part, these are an excellent value and work really well, much better than the brass ones that I had from a discount tool store (HF). I would buy again without hesitation.
