Based on the photos they looked like the screw holes were in the right place and it looked like it was worth a go. In fact they were spot on and now I have them I have more cofidence that older manufacturers probably used standardised rather than bespoke parts. Slightly tacky plastic stickers to cover up the screws once they are fitted (which I discarded) but this is a trivial comment given the price, the good quality of the metal components, the fact that the locking mechanism is metal (it was plastic in the ones being replaced) and the main thing - my old window that I could no longer lock is now good for a few more years so getting these have saved me a lot of money. I needed these as when I changed house insurance as the new company L&G required that we meet their minimum security requirements. One of which was having locks on all accessible windows. However, we had some very old windows that didn't have locks so it probably would've invalidated the insurance (if I ever made a claim) if I didn't change them. For less than 3 quid delivered it's perfect. I just wish they'd explain the difference between right and left.
