The reason is it provides a simple and efficient 45 minute home practice, one I have a realistic chance of doing every day. I have stacks of more challengning DVDs, Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea et al, and I enjoy using them from time to time, but to become grounded in yoga you need a daily practice and it has to be at a manageable level and time slot. Anna gives enough instruction to make you aware of alignment principles while retaining a feeling of spaciousness that is also important in the postures. I feel afterwards the calm I am used to from live Iyengar classes - not the buzz from more commercial 'dynamic' classes.
