Picture dictionaries are a fun way to pick up vocabulary in new languages no matter what the age of the learner. I tried it for Mandarin and had to return the books to Amazon because I did not like them. Although I am fluent in French, I got this to introduce my grandchildren to the French language and was delighted to find what I was looking for: useful words, great graphics, attractive layout. I also enjoyed the little notes about various fun facts. The pronunciation is indicated in a way that's natural and easy to understand for English speakers. The only thing I did not like was the way in which the sound of Ü is represented as OO (for instance as too for the french word tu=You).
