I consider the level detection methodology brilliant.All the electronics sit outside the tank. The little controller shines a light through the tank wall which is reflected by an optical cone in the magnetic holder in the tank (my guess). Only the passive reflector is in the water and secures the controller to the outside of the tank magnetically. Easy! Comes with everything you need.You just have to flip a coin to know which controller jack takes the power plug and which jack takes the pump plug (identical). I couldn’t detect any markings and as others have commented, there are no instructions.I guessed right (perhaps it doesn’t matter). Looking at the control panel, left is power, right is pump (left to right flow logic).4/12/18 update (after 2 months)One of mine now has the problems others have reported. The ones that work, still work well. ### ⭐ Sensor doesn't work, It overfills *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2018* First time I went to turn it on, it did not stop filling up past the sensor. had to unplug so my tank wouldnt overfill. I tested again and the unit would keep filling past the sensor, I shined a flashlight on the sensor and it seemed to finally see that it was overfilling. I think the only way this unit will function properly is if it constantly has a light on in the sump. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND anyone to trust this unit.I'm open to changing my rating, but first I need some answers from "Hallen" about why their units are overfilling sumps ### ⭐ easy to set up seems to be working good so ... *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2018* easy to set up seems to be working good so far and half the price of the name brand one. I wish it came with instructions but it does not but it says it has a 3 yr warranty but not sure who i would call or email if there was a problem but works good so far!
