You could just spray it, but the rust will likely come back and cause the paint to peel off. **Q: some of the clear oat is peeling from my brass front door handset, I want to attemp repair before I drop another $300 on a handset,** A: You put 10 dollar clear glue over a 300 dollar door knob?.... The fact that your handset can't survive without a cheap enamel is more worrisome. My 15 dollar Kwikset knob looks brand new after 7 years. **Q: People are saying in answers that it is white, yet the illutration is a beige or light tan. Which is it? Thank you** A: Its not white but it is a lighter beige color. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Long lasting seal when used on outdoor items. *by on Reviewed in the United States July 27, 2026* My wife creates and paints a lot of statuary and yard art. This has been her go to sealer for many years. It’s very tolerant of different weather conditions, dries quickly even when the humidity is a bit higher than recommended and lasts for years on pieces that are left outside year round. The price for these was much better than anything we’ve ever found locally. One thing you should know…if you’re sealing a piece that has a satin or glossy look to it, go with the appropriate sealer. Spraying a matte sealer will dull the finish of anything that was glossier. Stick with Rustoleum. Every one of their sealers works great when used as directed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rust-oleum Flat Clear Spray Paint *by on Reviewed in the United States September 29, 2026* It provides a tough, clear, non-reflective, protective coating on both metals and plastics ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No issues! *by on Reviewed in the United States October 15, 2026* Delivered quickly and arrived well packaged and exactly as described! ## Frequently Bought Together - Rust-Oleum 7776830 Stops Rust Spray Paint, 12 oz, Flat Black - Rust-Oleum 248658 Stops Rust Reformer Spray Paint, 10.25 oz, Matte Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/5643785-rust-oleum-7776830-stops-rust-spray-paint-12-oz-flat](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/5643785-rust-oleum-7776830-stops-rust-spray-paint-12-oz-flat) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-23*
