I can only think to turning them upside down! The ceramic does not drink up like "a desert" glass and coaster get stuck together so when you lift your glass the coaster will fall off in the air with a load bang. Then it has turned into a semi saucer filled with water. I don't have fancy furniture to protect or anything, but our living room sits on the west side of our house, with big windows also facing west, which means the room gets fairly warm in the afternoon and evening, so any cold drink that isn't in a s'well bottle sweats quite a bit. Fancy furniture or no, that much moisture can cause damage and make surfaces uneven. These were a great price and they're good quality. I was a bit startled at the packaging, as it looked kind of rough, but nothing was so much as scratched so it must have been sufficient lol.
