**Q: Can you pot it in a soil / sand mixture?**
A: It’s roots are tiny, and it needs to be allowed to dry out completely, so having in soil would make it unhappy.
Mine is resting on top of some hydroclay pebbles, just enough to keep it up so it’s not sat in water

**Q: Mine remains dark, not green is it dead. It fully opens and there  are no obvious dead areas. opens fully every time it gets rain water?**
A: These plants can survive 50yrs without water, so if yours is opening when you water it, then it is alive! 
Their colouring varies plant to plant, I bought 2, one is bright green, the other is mostly brown with a bit of green, I t’s just natural variation. The photos on the sale page are misleading

**Q: Is this plant the real rose of jericho or a subsertute**
A: This rose of Jericho is coming from Mexico , it is not a plastic or artifial flower

**Q: I have bought several of these over the years and mine have never been this green - any ideas as to why????**
A: The reason that yours (and mine) never look that green, is due to misleading marketing. I can only assume that the plant in the photo is sprayed with something green, or green pigment added to the water. Mine have always had very little green when they arrive, last for a few cycles and then die. It's hard to tell if the plants are alive at all, and the open/close is merely a function of the plant structure, and works whether the plant is alive or dead.

Been in water for a couple of days, opened 80% on the first day and looks like it will be fully open within the week. Almost no dead bits, very happy. Also arrived promptly in paper bag, (inside Amazon outer packaging) so nice and dry and safe. I purchased 3, 2 are for gifts. There are no growing instructions but that's ok for me (I knew what I was buying) but will need to add some instructions with the ones I am gifting, my small problem.
