Rifle is in great shape, from 1947 and wasn't machined for .22 rails, too early. One forum poster suggested using this stuff as an adhesive, seems to work. Have put 100 rounds through the gun, stuff is still stuck. Spec sheet shows high sheer strength, supposed to be rubber-fortified for impact resistance. Guess I'll see how it holds up to bumps of normal handling. It's a cyanoacrylate derivative, so only needs a couple of minutes to grab hold, no lengthy fixturing needed. Used a silver sharpy to mark where the rear base needed to go, applied goo to the base, put it in place, let it set for a bit, put the scope with aligned rings on with the front base in the front ring and gooped up. Latched it to the rear base, pressed on the front for a couple of minutes and it was done. Laser boresighter showed it was good next day. So no real fuss, just make sure everything is squeaky clean, used some aerosol parts cleaner on the mating parts. Only downside is how much they want for the dinky tube.
