I would like to apply this over old putty.** A: As long as the remaining putty is sound, dry and bonded to both glass and the wood, then yes you can use this in conjuction with remaining putty. Make sure all areas that your repairing are dust free and dry, I would clean the area to be repaired and undercoat to give the best adhesion. Also the product can be awkward to use in terms of getting a finished surface its better to wait till it cures and then sand it down to the correct profile. Hope this helps. In my experience this is the best product to do this job. **Q: Can you go over another layer of it? I couldn’t get as good a finish as with Linseed putty but much quicker to use and was ready to paint the next day. Time will tell if it lasts. Not sure how to clean tools afterwards.
