I accidentally put my hand through the tops of one of them, but this was my fault. I would advise not leaning your whole weight against it unless you're leaning on the bars.It came with a little wooden mallet to help put it together. I didn't use it at all--found it difficult to hit well. I'm fairly certain that I didn't quite get it together 100% correctly, but it works well enough for my purposes. I made it in two columns because that is what fit my space. It was a little harder to put together than I had hoped but mainly need a little more umph that I had planed on. Used the wood mallet, and needle nosed pliers to get them to snap in place. I would buy again if I had the space to put another one.
