I use it for the left and right rear outputs of my 2nd generation focusrite 2i2. If I have two people listening on headphones, I use the splitter cable for the rear and plug another set in the front input of the focusrite in order to have two people monitoring a recording session. The rear is normally used for monitors. Using it this way the person can hear themselves while playing an instrument or singing while at the same time I can hear them through my headphones.
