I really like these pastels as they are reasonably soft and highly pigmented, but not so soft that they crumble. You can use the ends to make fine strokes, as well as using them sideways for blocks of colour - something you can't do with the very expensive top brands like Unison and Sennelier which are lovely but very crumbly. I have also bought some Rembrandt pastels singly from Amazon to supplement this set.
