My wife and I are expecting our first child so I bought these to baby-proof our home. The baby hasn't arrived yet so I can't say whether they'll stop a baby that's determined to stab something into an electrical outlet, but the outlets no longer present an inviting target of opportunity. These are also much more convenient than the usual outlet plugs -- instead of clawing at the plugs to pry them out every time you want to use the outlet, you simply slide aside these protectors. The two outlet protectors slide independently, so you can still plug in one device at a time while the other outlet stays protected.One warning: depending on how tightly you've screwed on the outlet covers, the slide that blocks the outlet may stay open when you unplug your device. My daughter who is 4 years old even said, "now Dax(who is almost one) won't be able to stick anything in there" which she has been guilty of herself not too long ago.
