It doesn’t tear up the skin the way a skinpen does, but it does do what it’s supposed to do (which is create micro injuries that stimulate collagen production) and helps with fine lines and wrinkles. It doesn’t hurt bad enough to need numbing cream, either— it’s very tolerable.
