I don't lock in place fully unless I'm using it to hold the phone in position whilst watching a video, usually just pull it down slightly and slide my hand in. I wasn't sure if it offers a good protection as I had a silicone cases on my previous phones (note 20 ultra for example )but I've managed to drop my phone as I was sliding out of a seat of my van and it fell and bounced on a pavement from quite a hight. There's a small dent in the left top corner of the case now but my s24 ultra hasn't got a scratch on it!
