Only the smallest one sounds more toy-like, but I find that it still has a place in my music creation. The larger ones are extremely pleasing and meditative to play, which is just what I was hoping for - it's a nice set of drums to have while I try to make my own shaman drum.The finish isn't the greatest - expect paint in places it shouldn't be - and the mallets are all just WOOD (I will be modifying some of them to have different surfaces). Seems like it will be easy enough to replace heads if/when they break, as the frames are actually wood, at which point I will replace the rather cheap ribbon that's glued on these.
