All the modes are controlled by a single button .I had to test out the waterproof theory on it so I actually put the thing underwater and turn the light on and it worked and it still working and this is a couple of days ago. It has the rechargeable battery and it has new technology, there's a chip on the inside that allows for fast charging and if you leave it on a low setting it'll stay on for at least 8 hours. It also comes with the USB charger cable. To get the zoom feature all that has to be done is to push the head of the flash light up is down. It's super bright and when in zoom mode you can see things really far pretty clearly. There's a light on the side of the neck that has a red flashing light function. That would be perfect for signaling to others that help us needed. There's the white light option as well. For a bright light for working on something up close but not as bright as it is on the head. It's all led bulbs so it will not break as other bulbs might. I'm going to buy another to keep in the car. The battery last for a long time when it's fully charged. But the best thing is when it's on the flood mode you can see a huge area as it lights up from the beam that it puts out and the zoom is also great if you want to see something that far away and you want to be able to see it clearly.
