My PC did recognized the card fine, but did not recognize my Canon camcorder. I asked startech what the problem was, and they got back to me quickly that it was the cord! Seemed weird, but ok, I ordered a Canon-specific cord and voila! It worked great. My guess is that startech knows the cords they send with the card are bad, to have gotten it fixed so quickly. That's a disappointment, but their customer service was quick, excellent in clarity, and effective. And the canon cord was $8 including shipping.
