On smooth paper it writes beautifully, on cheap paper it feels very plastic like. It is noticeably darker than other lead and will tend to smudge more than the highest quality lead, but no worse than mid grade lead. The same is true when erasing, though a good eraser like a Tombow Mono has no trouble. But with the right paper, eraser, and conditions there really is nothing as nice as the Neox. In terms of snapping it is about average. The longevity of the lead is a little below average. The price is a step above most high quality lead. But you buy Neox for that smooth dark line. If you just wanted a general high quality lead you should look towards Pentel Ain or Uni Smudge-Free (RIP Uni Nanodia). Review: I love Neox - The very best mechanical pencil lead, you can do no better. ## Features - Pilot Mechanical Pencil Refill - Neox Graphote Series - 0.5mm ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B006CQS0N0 | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Age range (description) | Adult | | Artistic Charcoal Form | Powdered Charcoal | | Best Sellers Rank | 216,921 in Stationery & Office Supplies ( See Top 100 in Stationery & Office Supplies ) 440 in Mechanical Pencil Leads | | Body Shape | Cylindrical | | Brand | PILOT | | Brand Name | PILOT | | Closure Type | Retractable | | Colour | Graphite | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 541 Reviews | | Drill Point | Fine | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04902505408946 | | Grip Type | Graphite | | Hardness | 2B | | Included Components | Lead | | Ink Base | Pigment | | Ink Colour | Black | | Ink colour | Black | | Is the Product Left or Right Handed? | Ambidextrous | | Item Dimensions | 7.6 x 1 x 3.8 centimetres | | Item Weight | 0.02 Pounds | | Line Size | 0_5mm | | Manufacturer | Pilot | | Material | Graphite | | Material Type | Graphite | | Model Number | HRF5G-20-2B | | Recommended Uses For Product | Sketching, Writing | | Special Features | Refillable | | Style | 2b | | Water Resistance Level | Not Water Resistant | | Writing Instrument Form | Mechanical Graphite Pencil | | Writing Technique | pencil lead | | Writing instrument form | Mechanical Graphite Pencil | ## Product Details - **Age range (description):** Adult - **Brand:** PILOT - **Colour:** Graphite - **Ink colour:** Black - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 7.6 x 1 x 3.8 centimetres - **Material:** Graphite - **Point type:** Fine - **Recommended uses for product:** Sketching, Writing - **Special feature:** Refillable - **Writing instrument form:** Mechanical Graphite Pencil ## Images ![Pilot Mechanical Pencil Lead Neox Graphite 0.5mm, 2B, 40 Leads (HRF5G-20-2B) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61syuE0SGNL.jpg) ![Pilot Mechanical Pencil Lead Neox Graphite 0.5mm, 2B, 40 Leads (HRF5G-20-2B) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/21JDk6rtnhL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How many pieces of lead are there?** A: It starts out 40, but if you break them in 2 you'll have 80 **Q: Does this lead smear easily?** A: No, it doesn't smear until you put down multiple layers in the same area. **Q: Is the lead made from graphite or is ead since the box says graphite 4B on the web page** A: I found the lead to be very good. But you definitely get what you pay for. This is the smoothest, darkest (for the grade), and all around best lead I have ever drawn with. Now that I've tried it, I don't want to put anything else in my pencils. ## Frequently Bought Together - Pilot Mechanical Pencil Lead Neox Graphite 0.5mm, 2B, 40 Leads (HRF5G-20-2B) - Pilot Mechanical Pencil Lead Neox Graphite 0.7mm, 2B, 40 Leads (HRF7G-20-2B) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/61578431-pilot-mechanical-pencil-lead-neox-graphite-0-5mm-2b-40](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/61578431-pilot-mechanical-pencil-lead-neox-graphite-0-5mm-2b-40) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-11-02*
