Bought them for a three week trip to Ireland. Only wore them a couple of brief times before the trip, it being too hot here in Florida to wear them for an extended period of time, so was a bit apprehensive about how well they would work out in Ireland. They were perfect. I wore them every day for 18 days. Hiking trails, castle stairs, wooded paths, city cobblestone streets, beaches, rain, mud, rocks, wind, slippery surfaces, you name it. These boots are champs! They never hurt my feet, never rubbed a blister, and are 100% water-proof. My feet stayed dry and comfortable the whole time. And the shaft is adjustable, which came in handy tucking in jeans. Nothing broke, nothing leaked, nothing rubbed, nothing fell apart. I can't speak highly enough of these boots. First Merrell's I ever purchased; will not be my last. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Size up only 1/2 size for orthodtics with medium thick wool socks. *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2018* I purchased this pair of boots and am waiting to see how the other two pair of boots that I ordered will fit. Initially I thought perhaps to return these Merrells as the arch support is in a weird position. I removed the inserts and placed two separate different custom molded inserts inside. One molded insert was make of rigid foam and still felt uncomfortable. Once I put in my slightly older inserts made with partial hard plastic that covered the arch of the boot, the boot fit very comfortably.4.5 with my own orthodicsI almost purchased a 10.5 instead of the 10. My regular shoe is 9.5 but with orthoditics I always order up to 10 and wear thin socks or no socks. I was surprised that with my med thick socks and orthodics that the size 10 boots felt fine. I hope that this review will help those in my same situation with molded inserts. My recommendation is to size up only if using molded orthodontics and medium thick socks.I will be wearing these on a long flight and walking in the snow more than 10 hours on cobblestone and incline and decline streets, at Christmas Markets in December. I was looking for a pair of boots that could be comfortable for long walks and touring and would also look nicer under long dresses for more formal functions we will be attending (than bulky snow boots). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fit like feet gloves *by M***B on Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2017* I wore the Captiva Launch boots for years and now these seem to be the replacement or upgraded version. Once broken in, they fit like perfect feet gloves. I have a funky shaped foot and so it takes a little time for the leather to yield. Once it has though, these boots are great! I can dress them up or I can wear them hiking. Also, I noticed that the actual bottom of the shoe and sole were separate pieces so I am hoping that if I wear the sole out, they can just replace that without too much hassle.
