It stays in place without cinching it down, and wearing it a tad loose keeps my head cooler. It provides excellent shade, and as I said, it's cool. At least "cool" temperature-wise. I'll still keep my cowboy hat for occasions when I want to look my best, but I'll always wear this one when it's more important to feel my best. Also, I love the way it folds flat and opens curved.
