On recommendation, I purchased this for my 221, but by the time I covered my feed dogs there was not enough room under the foot for free motion of the quilt. I tried using the "official" feed dog cover and using tape and smooth flow products, but was unsuccessful getting the 221 to properly free motion using this foot- must stick with the original darning foot. The FW222 does have lowering feed dogs but the 221 does not.
