I do put some WD40 on the blades every now and then, but otherwise they remain sharp and work well in the hand. I'm not sure what the other person's complaint is all about. I've not had those problems. **Q: Could these cut license plates?** A: Use Wiss aviation snips for that, they will last a lifetime: https://smile.amazon.com/M123R-Aviation-Snip-3-Piece-Wiss/dp/B00P86UCMC/ **Q: Is this snips good for cutting plastic?** A: I'd say it'd cut almost anything 1/16" or thinner pretty easily, with thicker material probably up to 1/8" with varying effectiveness (and effort required) depending on the type of plastic you working with. **Q: What is the largest gauge of wire that these can cut?** A: The largest gauge I used them on was 20 gauge, but the internal springs on the grips broke within weeks and then they were no good. ## Frequently Bought Together - Clauss 8" Titanium Snips with Wire Cutter, Spring-Assist, Serrated Blades, Gray (18039) - Clauss 19555 8" Titanium Straight Snip - Clauss Spring-Action Stainless Steel Wire Cutters / Pruning Shears For Gardening, Red, 7.5’’ (33503) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/63496086-clauss-18039-8-inch-titanium-snips-with-wire-cutter-grey](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/63496086-clauss-18039-8-inch-titanium-snips-with-wire-cutter-grey) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
