Either as replacements for well used ones or just bought to put in your own kit these are extremely effective rod and striker sets. They produce big showers of hot sparks that easily ignite any suitable tinder, including jute twine, wood shavings, birch bark, coconut fibre, and many others. From repeated practical use in a wide variety of environments, I have found these to be as effective as the LMF Army firesteel, but less than half of the price of the cheapest I've found of those, and with no postage cost.
