I've used the little tool that comes with it many times for other tripods and such, very helpful addition. But when I purchased the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 I knew I NEEDED the grip and was glad I had it. That lens is a giant chunk of a professional tool. And not having a grip to hold the camera at my side would be just outright foolish. Now I wouldn't go back, and if you plan on using this for more than vlogging with the tiny lens that is included. I'd consider it a MUST HAVE.
