The 1997 version is decent but has some very outdated cultural references (Boomtown Rats anyone?), and lacks the latest on slang / annoying frequently updated technical jargon that teachers deal with. Treat it like an exercise book, going chapter by chapter. Helped with the M1 exam for sure.

Thornbury's A-Z of ELT is good (though a bit overpriced), but this updated version of A.L. is great.
