Come 2 think of it, we haven't even seen any 'gators making the trek from 1 lake 2 another. Apparently, any living creature that has lips, tongues, or soft paws, can't tolerate this UBER-HOT bird seeds.CONs:EXPENSIVE & PRICE just increased EVERYWHERE I've LOOKed (i.e., WM, Ace, gOOgle search).BIRDS R FIGHTING over this FOOD;& now, a DIRTY CROW problem!!! (WE HUNG an effigy of an upside down dead crow, & we keep moving it closer 2 the 'SQUIRREL-PROOF birdfeeders; but, MURDERSofCROWS continue 2 INVADE & SCARE & ATTACK the beautiful colored & song birds we DESIRE 2 C & hear. Next, I gOOgled the problem & another suggestion was 2 either place a real dead crow on the ground, or a fake effigy w/ red paint (so, crows can C it whilst flying & apparently, R supposed 2 get FREAKED out about). A LOOK on the BRIGHT SIDE, at least, we don't have ravens (a cuz'n of crows) bc they WOULD PECK any crow, or raven, as well as violate it's carcass = IF U get my drift!!! CAN U JUST IMAGINE Cing THAT??? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works! *by T***F on Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2012* I purchased this alongside some slightly less expensive seed back in 2010 - mainly because I wanted to offer some other types of seed than simply sun and safflower. I used a 50/50 mix for the '10 and '11 seasons and never saw troubles with squirrels. I also began with a good squirrelproof feeder and regularly putting out corn for them, so I was never sure if it was the chili oil or other measures that were keeping them away. Occasionally a squirrel would show interest, but they'd give up after just a few minutes of poking around the feeder.Sometime along the way, I installed a 'sparrow halo' onto my feeder (which worked shockingly well - kept the sparrows away while making no impact on my finches, cardinals, wren, or nuthatch). This placed two metal rods across the top of what was previously a steep, slippery roof of the feeder, but I'd never had squirrel problems, so I didn't mind compromising the squirrel-proofing.This year, I finally ran out of my Cajun blend and decided to try some other Cole's mixes. Mistake. Within two days, my largest, oldest, and apparently smartest squirrel was experimenting with different ways of hanging off my feeder to get to the seed. Within another day he'd discovered a way to hang upside down off my sparrow halo to defeat the weight-based latch on the feeder.
