About half the canisters would bleed very slowly. Also, when you refill, there's a relief button near the valve on the 1lb tank, that needs to be depressed while filling until liquid propane comes out. About half of those don't re-seat themselves fully closed after a refill. In the end, refilling the disposable canisters is probably more trouble than their worth. So is the Flame King kits. I can refill these canisters multiple times, but... After the 5th or 10th refill of their cylinders about HALF of THOSE also continue to leak when you disconnect from their specialized filling valve. Worse yet, many of them will gush liquid propane onto your hands while you're disconnecting, and will even penetrate wool or cloth gloves giving you a very nasty freeze burn. In the end, I think I'll just buy lots of 5gal tanks, with hoses and adapters for any device that uses a 1lb tank. Five stars without a doubt! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FINALLY, REFILLABLE ONE-POUND PROPANE TANKS so we don't have to use disposables! *by P***N on July 5, 2025* We have used these during 6 weeks of car camping (when backpacking, we would shift to our MSR Whisperlite White Gas stoves). We teamed these up with the FlameKing two-burner stove and both the stove and the REFILLABLE bottles worked like champs (mostly, there were a few minor issues related to wind with the stove). I was able to use a simple and cheap connector for a 5 - 40 lbs propane tank to connect with these one-pound REFILLABLE bottles (connector sold separately) and everything worked easily and perfectly well. It was easy to fill these tanks (once I figured out the simple bleeder valve) although it required me to turn my propane tank on its head and position it next to a step where I could get the right angle for filling these tanks. BTW, some tank connectors you can buy come with a stand upon which you can place your larger propane (source) tank. In terms of use, we brought with us four full bottles to use over the 6 weeks. During that six weeks, we car-camped (used these as our only fuel source for all cooking) about 14 nights/days. Each day, we used them for breakfast (heating up water or more) and dinner (again, heating up water or more). We used both burners about 25% of the time. We used the burner on the lowest setting possible to get the job done but often were nearly maxed out. On rare occasion, we used both burners on max. I am guessing that we used the FlameKing stove (with these tanks) at least a total of 10 hours and we used up ONLY about 1.75 tanks. That means, we still had over two full tanks to go!! That's rather amazing. Did I say these are REFILLABLE? For years we resisted buying a car-camping stove because we would look in the trasn of campgrounds etc and see piles and piles of one-time use propane tanks. Given that we are camping to be closer to nature (and not destroy it), we just resisted buying these stoves and instead used our backpacking stoves (MSR Whisperlites... that were always refillable). THEN, we found these! And, initially hesitant, we bought the filler connector (between source and one-pound tanks) and the FlameKing two-burner stove. WOW! What a GREAT addition AND there's NO tank waste!! We just use these tanks until empty (again, many many hours of use at low flame levels or, according to Flame King, about one hour of use with BOTH burners set on Max).
