By nature, LEDs will consume as much current as is available in the power supply, hence they need a current limiting circuit, either external, or preferably integrated into the bulb itself. Many of the cheaper 12 volt LED bulbs now becoming available in the RV/Marine, and off-grid alternative energy markets have simple resistor type current control. In contrast, this bulb contains an active current limiting circuit which protects the bulb from sudden death in the event of higher voltages seen in some charging systems. Most 12 volt LED bulbs cannot withstand voltages higher than 14 volts before suddenly self destructing. This bulb can tolerate up to 20 Volts DC, making it suitable for use even during charging. In addition, this bulb is a perfect match for Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel-Iron (NiFe) battery systems, where normal charging voltages are typical about 16 volts DC. I use this bulb daily in a table lamp, and find it works flawlessly. I highly recommend this bulb. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DC LED bulb *by J***O on October 4, 2024* Good LED lights.
