Product Description Teen sensation Selena Gomez (Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place) teams up with newcomer Joey King in this delightful coming-of-age comedy based on the best-selling books by Beverly Cleary. Ramona (King) is a little girl with a very big imagination and a nose for mischief. Her playful antics keep everyone in her loving family on their toes, including her older sister Beezus (Gomez), who's just trying to survive her first year of high school. Through all the ups and downs of childhood, Ramona and Beezus learn that anything’s possible when you believe in yourself and rely on each other. Review Beverly Cleary fans will love Ramona and Beezus, a peppy, affectionately directed film based on the series of Cleary's children's books, starring the adorable, awkward Ramona Quimby. Ramona and Beezus manages to appeal to three distinctly different audiences--tweens, because of its heroine, played with winsome agility by the adorable Joey King; teens, because of the presence of actress-singer Selena Gomez as Beezus (short for Beatrice), the hapless Ramona's older sister; and adults, because of the great casting of the girls' parents, Bridget Moynahan and especially John Corbett. There's also a romantic sub-story involving Ramona's Aunt Bea, played by Ginnifer Goodwin, and a neighbor, Hobart (Josh Duhamel). But the star of this film, as with the Cleary books, is Ramona, the imaginative, active, creative, and sometimes lost-in-her-own-world 9-year-old, whose best intentions have a funny way of nearly always going awry. Ramona and Beezus is adapted from several of Cleary's books, and readers will recognize many of Ramona's escapades and mishaps. And perhaps surprisingly, they knit together to make a fine, cohesive family film--the cast interacts well together, especially King and Gomez, whose sisterly chemistry is adorable. There are several laugh-out-loud moments, including a really, really bad cooking incident, and the most creative accidental paint job ever perpetrated on a Jeep. But there's pathos too, and real family emotion, and there are a few teary scenes that make Ramona and Beezus that much more endearing. My 10-year-old companion pronounced it "awesome," "believable," and "really, really funny, with good music." Beverly Cleary fans of all ages will agree. --A.T. Hurley

A simple story for young children
Judy Bloom's books are wonderful for children. It will speak to their interest and love the kids in the story. My grandson loves these books. Keep them reading!

Love It
Gosh, I love this movie so much I watched it two days in a row. Let me just clarify I am 64 years old and there are no children in my home. My husband and I watched this together. I've always loved anything with Selena Gomez and the girl who played Ramona is adorable. I really like that It is a cute and silly family movie without the typical idiot parent and obnoxious younger brother. Ramona certainly gets into a lot of mischief but not because she is a bad child. She just has a crazy imagination and so much energy. I'll admit there were a few scenes that made me cry a little. But the rest was all fun and silliness.

Hilarious Family-Friendly Movie EVERYONE Should SEE!!!
Everyone adores sweet little Ramona and her wonderful adventures, so I was thrilled when I found out there was a movie reflecting a little bit of her whole story.------*SPOILER-FREE REVIEW (BY VB REVIEWS on AMAZON)*Ramona (young Joey King) is struggling as a younger child of her finance-struggling family while teenager Beezus (Selena Gomez) is trying not to get frustrated over the annoyingly embarrassing antics of her sister who NEVER seams to grow up. But the true excitement starts when their understanding Aunt Bea (Ginnifer Goodwin) visits them—and makes a new encounter with her long-forgotten (or said to be forgotten) high-school sweetheart, Hobart (Josh Duhamel), who is staying for a while with his extended family (an extended family that HAPPENS to live next door and HAPPENS to be the family of Ramona's best friend). And while Aunt Bea tries to avoid Hobart at all costs, Hobart endlessly tries to trap Bea back into a romance. This worth-while movie is a mix of everything wound up to an awesome movie that will make you LOL. Ramona's goofy character; a loving, determined family; a sweet competitive romance; and the well-displayed conflicts that leave you on the edge of your seat will bring a smile on all of your family's faces.-------5 STARS!!!- VB Reviews

fun & moving
I originally went to see this in the theater because it had Selena Gomez in it, playing Beezus. The movie was misnamed. It should have been simply named "Ramona" as she is clearly the focus. So I didn't get to see as much Selena Gomez as I was hoping. However, I was not disappointed. This is one of the funnest movies I've seen, and it moved some real emotion as well. When I got the dvd, I was wondering if it would be as good the 2nd time through, especially on a tv screen. Well, it was as near as could be expected. And my memory had played an odd trick: remembering there was a lot less Beezus than I thought there would be, there was now a lot more than I remembered; so I was pleased with that. My appreciation for Joey King as Ramona perhaps grew, if possible: perfect casting. The special features were not long, but interesting. Of the four deleted scenes, 3 were rightly deleted, but the churchstep scene was excellent. The gag reel was amusing, but much less so than the movie itself. Beverly Cleary talking about her books was a wonderful thing. If you like good fun with a heart-tug, I encourage you to get this dvd.

Great film for all the family
I have a daughter who was the same age as Ramona when we first saw this at the cinema, so it seemed an appropriate time to see it. We both loved it, there was something to entertain both of us. I loved the way they captured Ramona's fantastic imagination, showing her hanging way above a ravine when she was just on a climbing frame in the playground, or parachuting from the clouds, when she was actually only jumping off a step with a sheet. As a bonus, the next door neighbour with the Land Rover provided some welcome eye candy, and I have to admit I did cry just a little bit at the end.A real feelgood film with no scary moments, some truly laugh out loud moments, and a happy ending, albeit a little predictable. We enjoyed it so much we saw it twice at the cinema.I'm just waiting for the DVD to come out in the UK now....
