The light has to be plugged into a USB port to operate. Maybe your young child can use it as a nightlight if they have a laptop or something. The acrylic Yoda form is realistic but does not click in to the base so it falls off with the slightest touch. I am disappointed because the light itself when on is great but very limited as to where you can use it.
