**Q: does it actually cut off water supply or merely act as a bypass**
A: absolute waste of time. does not work. I tried to install a new radiator with it. It flooded the room. I had to turn everything off, put a proper joint in, then refill the system. Then rip down the ceiling and replaster. DO NOT BUY!!
