As rechargeable NiCads also produce the same 1.2v as NiMH when charged, the test should be exactly the same for both types of battery. The chemical composition of the battery is not relevant in this case. **Q: Are the testers offered by the seller the latest MBT-1 version that is labeled for testing CR1620 batteries?** A: The MBT-1 tester I have (purchased about 6-8 months ago) is labeled for the CR 1620 3 volt lithium battery. The contact is the third from the top on the right side as you look at the tester. The Amazon ad picture also shows this contact and label. It's a great tester! **Q: This device is much more expensive than others: is it worth it?** A: I have 100s of dry cell batteries in my apt. complex, (smoke detectors etc.). It is important for me to know for sure the 50 cent battery has failed as opposed to the 50 dollar smoke detector. .I had some cheaper ones and they didn't give consistent test results.
