This is an enzyme found in the digestive tract of silk worms thought to help digest proteins as well as those from Candida yeast. Although this product may help many, it is not without side effects as it was for myself.After seeing this product recommended on the yeast infection advisor, I decided to use this product beginning with one pill morning and night along with the recommended probiotics. Shortly after, I began noticing rashes on my face. I wrote to the author of the site telling of my experiences. I mentioned everything I had been taking including the recommended probiotics and all the enzymes, etc. I was told that my reaction was due to herx-heimer due to yeast die off and to continue with the recommended protocol. Also I was advised to use specific probiotics which were recommended for rash from skin yeast, something I had never before had.My symptoms continued to worsen. I developed severe aches and pains, stiffness, headaches, skin crawling and nasal congestion. I also had heart palpitations and gut issues. The itchy rash continued to worsen. After doing more research, I thought my reaction was from taking too many probiotics, causing severe die off and toxin overload.Eventually I cut all supplements way back and took another product similar to Serra enzyme to no avail. ( even though Serrapeptase was not known to have any side effects and advertised to reduce herxing.) I tried many different probiotics assuming a leaky gut may have allowed systemic Candida, throughout my body. Many months had passed until finally, out of desperation, I stopped everything. All my symptoms began to subside. About a week later I woke one morning with a headache lasting all day. Since serrapeptase was known to alleviate pain and inflammation, I thought taking this would help since Advil didn't work. A few hours later I noticed my skin beginning to itch. All night I tossed and turned with crawling skin, heart palpitations and a heaviness in my chest. Next morning my face was bright red with a fresh new rash completely covering it. Although it took me over 6 months to finally realize this was a severe allergic reaction, I am thankful to finally know it's not from Candida die off.If you experience any symptoms such as these, do not assume it's just a herx-heimer reaction. Once realizing my mistake, I found warnings about this supplement on the internet which listed similar reactions, respiratory problems and even liver damage. I have been taking these for eight months now. Although I do not know if they have reduced in size at this time, something else amazingly happened by taking these.
