This means that you have an excellent base from which to start reading Arabic and actually understanding it, rather than having lots of superfluous vocabulary. It is advisable to have a teacher, and that does not have to be an Arab! I learnt from native English speakers who had studied this book as beginners themselves."Madinah Book 1", as it is so widely informally known, gives you the roots of your Arabic tree - others only give you the branches.

THE book to start learning Arabic. If you use all three books of this series, you would have a level that exceeds intermediate. If you are a total beginner, use the Gateway to Arabic handwriting book, then start with this one.
