Review: Excellent Game - Remote Play on Vita makes it a must buy! - You get a lot of value out of Assasins Creed 4 Black Flag. There are a ton of things to do in This game. There are a lot of different side missions too that are actually fun. You can play it for hours and hours and still not be bored. Definitely the best PS4 game I got, and I got a decent amount of them. A lot of people reviewed this game but I want to concentrate on the Remote play Feature of this game that works if you have a PS4 and a PS Vita. Remote Play is a feature that allows you to play a PlayStation 4 game away from your Television and on your PS Vita screen. Very Cool. There is nothing gimmicky about this feature and if you have both you will definitely use it because it works soo good. However Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag works better than most games that use this feature. I have tried remote play with Battlefield 4 and it works great as far as the connection, but the screen is a little too small to work with BF4. This is not the only reason it doesn't work as well. The PS4 Controller has a touchpad L2, R2, L3, & R3 buttons that a PS Vita does not. Instead what the Vita has to compensate is a touchscreen and a rear touchpad. On Battlefield 4 for example L2 & R2 which is the 2 further back triggers on the PS4 controller are delegated to the top of the rear touchpad. L3 & R3 are the buttons you push down on the PS4 Control sticks and they are delegated to the bottom of the rear touchpad. All of these buttons are used frequently in most games and they are pretty hard to hit on a PS Vita. This Basically makes playing BF4 on a Vita very hard and something you probably wouldn't do. However for Assassins Creed 4 the L3 & R3 buttons are accessed at the bottom corners of the front touchscreen and are much easier to hit. L2 & R2 take up the ENTIRE back touchpad and again are much easier to hit because of this. These change of controls makes a world of difference and make AC4 seem like a game that was made just for the Vita when you are using it. Also to access the map which uses the Touchpad on the PS4 controller is accessed easily on the Vita's Touchscreen. As far as the connections between the Vita and PS4 go I have my Playstation 4 in the Basement and use the remote play when I am in my Master Bedroom which is all the way up on the 2nd Floor. The direct connection to the PS4 (which is the default way remote play will work) was not good at all. Just too far away from the PS4 to make a good connection. However the connection over the Wi-fi was much better. My only problem was my router was also in the basement so it would sputter every now and again. I hooked up a Unifi Wireless Access Point on the 2nd Floor and now it works perfectly. Very Very rarely will it slow down and if it does it is for a split second. This feature makes this game and the PS4 be truly next generation. I basically feel like I got 2 games for the price of one with this one.
Review: One of my favorite games, ever - I'll skip over the major points that have been said by most other reviewers and just give a few minor ones that stood out to me personally. -- This (may) apply only to next-gen, but the graphics....wow. Especially great after you take over a ship and everything brightens for a few seconds or at that midday time when colors are so clear. Looks incredibly sharp. -- No glitches! The map is enormous and I've run into maybe 2 glitches at 98% completion, and none that have interrupted gameplay (once a guard was stuck in a rock...not a big deal). -- Getting of the main story line is as much fun or more as continuing with it. I've never bought a game where I didn't finish the campaign first. I've logged somewhere between 50 and 60 hours so far and have happily been engaging in ship battle after ship battle just for fun. -- The characters! At first I was disappointed that pirates like Charles Vane and Blackbeard had small parts (imo) but now I just appreciate the attention to detail Ubi gave even small aspects of the game. -- I loved the way the story built over time. Maybe it was because I took so much time between main story missions to tool around in the world but I felt some suspense leading up to....let's say Edward's big discovery so I don't spoil anything. I wish other characters were explored more, like James and Anne. -- The shanties are awesome. Even though the method to collect them doesn't make much sense, they're still fun. Much more exciting than other collectibles anyway. Keep them!! -- The varied islands and whatnot are really immersive. Background noises change from location to location - at the beach you hear seagulls and waves, in the jungle you hear insects, etc etc. They vary enough to keep things interesting without being unrealistic. -- The upgrade system for the Jackdaw is great. As an added bonus, even when you're done with the game in other aspects, you have incentives to keep upgrading because those Lengendary Ships are pretty hard otherwise. Honestly, I didn't feel like much of an "assassin" in this game, but it wasn't lacking in any way. The present day, as always, was just not as....fun....as the rest of the game. But, still an interesting backstory. Also, if Ubi takes away naval battles, I think the series will suffer. I am trying to think of cons but the ones I can think of are really tiny. There's something for everyone in this game, except maybe FPS people and they have enough games to make 'em happy. There are a ton of plantation/warehouse raiding opportunities but they're optional. After every successful boarding of a ship you have 3 options, and choosing one plays one of the same 3 cutscenes each time. It's repetitive but only lasts a couple seconds. Also, the reward from the Mayan Stelae is lame....but other than that I love this game! Highly recommend!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What kind of gameplay should I expect from this?**
A: If you are familiar with the series then you will have a pretty good idea. Combat mechanics have not changed much. Its a little more fluent. Better weapon selections. As well as armors. Naval combat and exploration is a much improvement over its previous release of AC3. All in all a great buy. If your interested in trophies/achievements there is a lil more of a challenge. I was able to get the platinum trophies on all previous games fairly easy on one play threw. This one took me atleast 2 to obtain all including the platinum.

**Q: Could I free roam this open world map? Like for ex: Skyrim. Or is this a sand box map, ex: Dishonored?
Thank you**
A: Yes and no. If you ever played AC games things are blocked off until you finish missions same goes here but there's a lot of exploring to do and collectibles. The good news is after you get your ship and can customize it you can free roam about 90% of the game (hunt for buried treasure, underwater wrecks, hunt animals and get into naval battles). Its not exactly open world like Skyrim.

**Q: is this game fun? how long is the campaign? is the multiplayer cool?**
A: Its amazing. However the campaign is short compared to some of the other games and. The ending kind of sneaks up on you so for that reason I don't like the story arc as much as the other games but overall it's a great game. the multiplayer hasn't changed much and as always it's worth playing.

**Q: Is anyone having problems with their game? I keep seeing soldiers which appear bright red even when there is structure blocking view, is this normal? Is this a problem with the game or the console? Is anyone else having this issue?**
A: The guards appearing in red is normal and is an ability you have in the game to lock certain guards as targets. Once they're locked as targets they're visible through structures. You'll know when you're using the vision ability as the screen turns to a more black and white view instead of color. As far as problems with the game? No, no problems with the game at all!
