Review: Just great. Really happy. - We got a bunch of U100 and U200 locks previously and Aqara lying to us! The batteries last a lot longer than they say! And I pass through our doors a lot more often than the average person. And yes, I'm in a cold climate in both Detroit where we lived and now in the mountains of West Virginia. For the house in WV I ordered six of these and installed one to date. Did so right at the beginning on the cold. When I installed the lock it was 70º, sunny and beautiful. By the time we left it was 24º and the lock was crusted over in a thick layer of ice. Get this! The lock read my thumb print through the nice - no problem! And the keypad also worked brilliantly. I've got to say Aqara, at least with their lock products, seems to have an "under promise and over deliver" policy and I love it! I don't like to mention competing products in reviews but I've got to say: I removed our top-of-the-line Level Lock Plus in favor of an Aqara lock. They're more responsive, less troublesome, and far more trustworthy as devices go. You get the sense from their marketing that Level is the top of the heap but they're not. If you're running an Apple Home these are the ones you want. Turn on Express Passage and your door unlocks the first time you raise your device to it - every time, though you'll never use the feature with these as the thumb print is so much more convenient. I don't work for them. I didn't receive a test product. I'm just a really, really impressed and extremely happy customer. Aqara did it again with the U300. It's about as perfect as lock as you could hope for if you're needing a smart knob-replacement lock that truly supports your chosen ecosystem. Go on and buy with confidence. These things are dope. ❤️💋 Regarding some of the issues reported by users here and in other places: 1) Communication issues are likely environmental in my experience. Make sure you have an AppleTV, HomePod, or HomePod mini within 30ft of your lock. Make sure there's no brick and very little plaster and lathe between your lock and your HomeKit or Aqara hub. 2) Apple Home, HomeKey and other issues: Just remember you don't actually need the Aqara App if you're using HomeKit. It's a good idea to use the app so the lock is associated with you through their app and your account, but the app itself has nothing at all to do with HomeKit. In fact, anything you do through HomeKit is written to the lock separately. They're two different worlds and Aqara was wise to keep them separate. 3) If you're thinking about a smart lock have a look at your door first. If your closure is weird or unreliable, if after your close your door you notice there's a lot of pressure on the knob latch, or if your door frame has simply relinquished "square", this or any other smart lock is likely going to be problematic. Manual locks on doors that require fidgeting to make work are generally fine because they're manual. But those same doors are likely to introduce problems as most smart locks are made for new doors, or at least doors that close and rest properly. Be sure to assess your door first, If it has problems get those addressed BEFORE trying to install any smart lock. A bad closure will see your locks fail, not last, batteries may die faster...
Review: Not suitable for advertised outdoor use. - According to the Aqara website the U300 is: “Rated IPX4” and “is ideal for outdoor use, operating down to -22°F and in rainy conditions.” Well, yeah, not really. I love the lock and had waited for its release since Aqara first mentioned that it was under development last year. When it became available I ordered two. The features are terrific and it’s easy to install and set up plus the build quality feels nice and solid and the display is excellent even in full sunlight. Unfortunately, after only a few months I started to see the display face separating or delaminating around the edges and it’s only gotten worse as you can see in the photographs and no, this isn’t the plastic film used to protect the face during shipping, this is the actual glass plate itself. Both of the locks are showing this problem, one much worse than the other. Overall I love the lock but absolutely cannot recommend buying it at this time especially for outdoor use. Hopefully Aqara will correct this issue because the lock features are great but this faceplate is simply unacceptable. Update #1. After contacting Aqara customer support they requested some information on the local environmental conditions which I sent them. I have currently agreed to accepting two replacements but, given that both of my locks have delaminated, Aqara has only mentioned that they are investigating the problems not that they have solved it so I expect that these replacements will not be any better.This appears to be a fundamental engineering issue which Aqara will need to solve but will I update this review once I see how the replacements perform. Update #2. Aqara sent me two replacements but, unfortunately, both have delaminated again in the exact same manner as the first two. While it’s great that Aqara responded by replacing the original locks it hasn’t fixed the fundamental problem with the display face. As I said, it’s unfortunate as I really like the looks and function of the locks, but I simply cannot recommend them for use in exposed outdoor locations which is, of course, their fundamental purpose.

**Q: Why can't my U300 pair with the app (non-Aqara app)?**
A: Check the following: • Use a Matter-over-Thread hub; • Enable IPv6 on your Wi-Fi; • Phone and hub on the same Wi-Fi; • Bluetooth turned on; • Lock within 5 m of the hub with no obstruction; • Press the Set button before pairing;

**Q: Can the handle of the Aqara U300 be reversed?**
A: Yes, the handle can be reversed. Please watch our instructional video carefully before attempting, as incorrect installation may cause a loose handle or affect certain functions.

**Q: How do I know if this will fit my door?**
A: The lock fits doors with a 2 3/8" or 2 3/4" (60–70mm) backset, 1 3/8"–2 11/64" (35–55mm) thickness, and a 2 1/8" (54mm) hole. If your door has two boreholes (typically for separate deadbolt and handle), a deadbolt-style lock may be more suitable.

**Q: Can the Aqara U300 be used on outdoor doors?**

Very pleased just wish it would stay unlocked longer it’s an interior garage dood. Works great though with home kit. We. Have 9 exterior doors and 3 stories that’s a lot of stairs if you forget if you locked the door ah no longer
