It's well made and durable. My son has had several spills on his bike. This definitely saved many scraped knees and elbows. The straps do get a little twisted up with time but the Velcro remains effective after 7 months. My son is also able to run with the knee pads on so they are not too restricting. The elbow pads do not fit my almost 4 year old who, while small for his age, is DEFINITELY not the size of an 18 month old. I am going to keep them as if I dress him in extra clothes I can get them to stay on but I am not happy with the sizing at all. The knee pads do just fit over trousers. I really do wish I could find ones that really fit him properly and I was so sure these would be the ones.
